Because she knows exactly what the future holds for her, I'm not sure what there is to say except how sorry you are. There has got to be studies going on constantly trying out new drugs or whatever that she might qualify for to test right? If it were me, and I knew how bad this disease was first hand, I'd be turning over every single stone and be someone's guinea pig. I wouldn't go down without a fight.

She will need a lot of support, especially from a dear friend. Responding by being optomistic and letting her know how much you care would be a good start. It is a startling diagnosis and she appears to have a strong spirit. I think if it were me, I would want to know my friend was supportive and was trying to make me feel as good about myself as best she could.

Who knows, perhaps her experience will not be as severe as her mother's. Being upbeat is always good and at the same time have an understanding heart that she knows she can turn to. Sorry to hear this about your friend. Take care.
