I found one online. I like this type of device because your parent can talk right into the pendant rather than shouting at the base unit. Also there is no "middle man" that you have to talk to ...it dials the numbers directly.
Sounds too good to be true...has anyone tried this one or another brand like it?

It sounds like you're talking about the LogicMark Freedom Alert. It has a talk-through pendant and you program the numbers you want called. It has a lot of positive reviews.

...also, if you have bought any medical alert device, do your parents actually use it/wear it....do they work?
