for the state of Connecticut. I have heard that in some places it's 5 years! Meaning that the gift must be made no later than 5 years before knowing that the person is going to be going into long term care.

An elder lawyer in your area would be the best to give good sound advice in my state there is a 5 yr. look back period but the lawyer would be able to advise you on your state and county because you will be dealing with social service in your county-it is worth it to get the right advice early on so there is no trouble later on.

We did put our house in trust fot our son but did it many years before my husband was to go into a nursing home but I hope you go to the elder lawyer they will no all the rules in your state keep in touch.
