It is frequently reported to me by elderly and disabled adults that management in certain locations engage in harassment and abusive practices, as a method of forced compliance, intimidation and adherence to invasive policies.

As you can imagine, suc methods are not conducive to personal, family or community well-being.

The studio/one br I live in had the option of having a kitchen in the space where the BR is. As the house has a kitchen, I saw no need for a second kitchen, and I was told at the time I moved in by the Landlord.."The kitchen is all yours, do what ever you want with it" So, I had my cooking utensils in it and my food, and now I have moved everything up to my apt. I had to buy a toaster oven, coffee pot and a hot plate. the landlord said he would put the "kitchen in" but I will not be able to afford the rent with the improvement. It is causing me stress, and my health problems are not conducive to stress..I had cancer, a breast biopsy last week, stents in my legs for vascular disease, an amputation of a toe, as a result of this my BP is rising..

I have been in a small One BR studio apt for almost 6 months. My landlord (who lives on the premises) recently had a young woman 22 yrs old, drug addict and prostitute move into his room. He is 68 yrs old, not that it matters, I do not care what goes on between them, however, this woman is beginning to abuse me, not physically, yet. But is violating my food, by spitting in it, now is resorting to stealing my mail. She verbally abuses me in public, and when I complain to my landlord he says "he's workin g on her addiction " NOT. So, now he last week, told me he does not want me to move, and today told me to get out. I have no place to go. I have a statement from him signed for The Suffolk County Department of Social Services, stating that I pay rent and have kitchen priveleges, etc. I need help!

When innocence is betrayed, abused, and rejected by those they seek out for encouragement and empowerment, they will become the betrayer, the abuser, and the abandonment of those who need them most... The elderly and disabled are such victims, never restored because their never recognized by those who survive by victimization's code of compromise. ~ Kolt4JC ~
