Most likely your aunt will need to go on Medicaid. That may mean she will have to find a new home. Discuss this with the ALF director. Are there any options available there? Some facilities who do not accept Medicaid from new residents do accept it from residents who have been private pay for a certain number of years. It also depends on whether the facility has the kind of care offerings that Medicaid does cover. Discuss these matters now. If you aren't POA for your aunt I'm not sure if you can discuss these matters on your own, but I'm sure you can be present if your aunt wants you to be while she discusses this issue. A lot of things can change in over a year, but it is a good idea to at least learn what your options are.
