Mother gets mad when my son's family comes over. What should I do?

FYI a urine specimen can be obtained from someone in Depends who is uncooperative by catheterization if necessary. If they lie still on their back it can be done from behind when they curl up.

Well this episode lasted a month, give or take a few days. It was hard, I talked to a help line for alzheimers..play along, basically let your mother/father have their way. Not very helpful for the caregiver..or my family. But she is not the same either..loves to eat now..lol at least I'm laughing still.

She uses pampers, its very hard for her cooperate with anything. She's still in her silent mode. Didn't eat her lunch. I read on a different site that fits her to a T..I believe she has progressed into a point where she rarely talks, even to herself. Kinda discouraging not being able to understand what is happening to her...thank you ladies

Was she always like this? It very well could be a UTI. Requires a trip to the doc. Maybe her meds need to be adjusted or changed. Many things to check for a cause for her agitation.

UTIs do no show up on bloodwork at first. She needs a urine test.

When a person has a ' sudden change of mental status", call the doctor to report it. Very often, it is a uti. Untreated, in the elderly, they can lead to sepsis and be fatal.

Maybe..she's is due for bloodwork pretty soon..but I find the doctor and staff don't help mothers situation. Just letting her get old...terrible.

Check for a UTI.
