I found a support group early on and they were a lot of help. They had pamphlets and printouts in addition to personal experience. Look at the website for the alz.org, for locations of support groups. There is lots of info on this website as well. Read as much as you can, check out you tube videos for Teepa Snow.

I'm not sure what you asking, but, my cousin was also diagnosed with Vascular Dementia, possibly also Alzheimers. She progressed very fast in a stepped down fashion. She does fine for awhile, then a big step down. Then she'll level off, then something gets worse. AND all the while she has steady progression. I suppose there's no way to predict the progress though. I'd ask her doctor if he can give you any more in detail so you can plan.

Does your mom have her Durable Power of Attorney and Healthcare Power of Attorney signed and in a safe place?

Have you looked into where she might stay or located help to come within the home? Or is she already in an Assisted Living or Nursing Home?

Is there someone who can monitor her to see when she might need more attention?
