Find Care & Housing
I believe that it is Medicaid not Medicare (I hope someone corrects me if this is not true).
Of course, they will not allow you to keep major income or assets if you are claiming that your parent cannot pay for their nursing home care. I believe you are allowed $2,000. in savings and $50./mo. for personal income.
How they handle home ownership is tricky. Is the home in both your names? Also, would your mother ever claim that she will return to the home? Will you claim that, as the caregiving child, the property is yours?
You really need to see an elder attorney and sort this out. There is also a "look back" period to consider. Right now any financial info. from the past 5 years will be looked at.
good luck
