Have had the a crazy week. I have not been home since Monday. Mom through her home aids out of the house. Long crazy story involving the sheriff. She finally agreed to move into an ALF. Closer to where I live (instead of the hour away). She can move in on Sept 26th yeah, so why am I having anxiety attach? I am worried how to move her there, she has a horde of stuff that she has a hard time letting go of. I am worried she if she is going to come out of her apartment, is she going to be co-operative (they will be managing her meds), then of course how long can she afford to live there, if she does't get thrown out or walks out first. Sigh, scream and cry.

So your stress was even more immediate. The good thing is that it will be behind you soon and you'll be on the other side of the move.

Tattoochick, I know how you feel, been having anxiety attacks left and right worrying about moving my Dad from independent living where he had a very nice apartment, to moving him into an one room suite in Assisted Living. My gosh this is probably how parents feel when they send their child to college !!

I didn't get this fried when I moved Dad early this year from his single family house to his IL apartment. He got to see the apartment before signing on the dotted lines. The move went smooth even with Dad wanting to take all of his books, including a 1930's encyclopedia.

One thing to note, the Staff at Assisted Living have been down this road hundreds of time, they know how to calm down a new resident who is scared or not wanting to take orders.

Don't attempt to clean out until after she has moved. Cleaning out seems to really ruffle the feathers. Maybe some anxiety meds for her first couple of weeks. For both of you. Honest.

You need an AC helmet so you can knock you head on the wall without getting hurt. We just have to work through these things and breathe easier on the other side. I don't envy your next two months! ((((Hugs))))
