I am 68 years old, lost my hearing in both ears 3 years ago due to treatment with certain kind of antibiotics. I had successful cochlear implant in one ear which restored sounds. Did your parent receive an implant? My 89 year old mother is scheduled to have an cochlear implant at the end of October. I'm 90% comfortable with this.
Being able to hear and understand conversation at less than 80 db would be a HUGE boost to quality of life if it is not too risky. I woukld not let age be the sole deciding factor!
