That is a good question. Many law enforcement agencies wrongly believe that financial elder abuse is "civil". Rarely are outsiders able to distinquish between a heated exchange due to behaviour or caregiver burnout, or actual abuse - which is just as heinous as child abuse. Heathcare workers are mandated reporters, but what if the elder never sees the doctor when they have bruises?

Like child abuse it is ugly and rarely understood for the devastating crime that it is. It's worth of discussion - and is important to be kept separate from those threads that seem to revolve around abusive elders - it is not the same thing.

our Aunt was blackmailed and taken advantaged of by a care giver who now after her dearth refuses to leave and has stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars

we cannot get the caregiver to leave my aunts home he purchased a 2013 Lincoln continental with her information and will not give us the keys it is the property of the state. how can we get him out
