I'm from California where I was compensated for being my father in law's caregiver. Can I do the same here in Texas?

Can I ask, how were you able to be conpensated as your father in laws caregiver? I am my father's full time caregiver & he lives with me. I love my dad very much & will always take care of him!! I have heard about programs to get some aid!? I wouldn't know where to begin! Any suggestions? We live in NV.
