I am a professional caregiver and my client makes sexual comments at least 3x a day. Yesterday he offered me cash. I care about this man, but the stress is becoming unbearable. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this. He is 90 and I am 45.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I WORKED IN A NURSING HOME.I ALWAYS ANSWERED THE" CALL BELL". WHEN HE ASKED OR TOLD ME STRAIGHT OUT WHAT HE WANTED I WOULD TELL HIM I WAS NOT HERE FOR THAT.. I DID LET HIM KNOW IN A NICE WAY I WAS HERE TO HELP HIM BUT NOT FOR THOSE KIND OF "REQUESTS".
I see this question was posted several months ago but I wanted to just give a family caregiver's perspective. My father is 74 years old with mental health issues including frontal lobe damage. He had been making inappropriate remarks to one of our caregivers. She did the right thing by telling me about it. We agreed that I would confront (not angrily) my Dad letting him know that it was unacceptable and that if it continued, he would be losing her as a caregiver. It stopped. However, if it hadn't, I would've totally supported her decision to quit. Nobody should have to put up with verbal abuse on the job.
How embarrassing in would be for these people if they were in their right mind and knew they were acting like this. Sad.
Randi, I had that happen to me years ago when I worked at a nursing home. One man in particular would do that to all the girls. I remember an older lady I worked with one night came in with me and when he started she picked up a pitcher of cold water sitting by his bed and poured on his lap. Not suggesting you do this but he did put a stop to his crude talk...at least for the night. The next night I think he had forgotten about it.
