I just noticed a question about HIPAA laws. Do these laws mean that my principal at my school should not have used my mother's name and previous business to another administrator while telling that person about her TBI. I certainly had not given her permission to do so.

Thank you for any information you can share!

I don't know if I understand but you are a teacher and the principal where you work was told something about your mom by "?" about your mother (gossip). How did she know about your mom? If you did then you know you can't tell her anything that you don't want spread around. But it doesn't sound like a HIPAA violation. If she doesn't have access to this info as a result of her job related access then it is just an inconsiderate person. Just learn from this and act accordingly.
