Medicare Part B may pay a certain amount. That comes with a premium, but most people with Medicare carry it, as Medicare Part A is more of a "catastrophic" insurance. Also, if there is a supplimentary policy, some of the cost that Part B doesn't cover may be absorbed. You need to check all of the Medicare policies and also with the company you deal with for the hearing aids so that you are sure they accept Medicare payments.

You can try to get "care credit' through your audiologist. How can they not help you?
Or, offer to make payments monthly.
There is an organization called "Hearing Loss Association for America." Go to their website and ask questions. Keep asking until it happens. Good Luck.

When my father got his hearing aid, we went to a medical ear clinic for him to be tested. Medicare (Blue Advantage) covered the cost of the testing by the clinic, but did not cover the cost of the hearing aid itself. If I remember correctly, it also didn't cover the cost of the audiologist -- not sure about this.

I live with my sister. Bot are seniors, 73 and 78 respectively. I am, in a way, taking care of her, though I myself have my own needs. My sister has a disability and homebound. Her hearing is getting worse but can't afford a hearing aidl.
Could someone inform me if there is an association or group helping senior with limited income. Your answer will be most appreciated. God BLess you!

I went to Google and typed in "hearing aid payment assistance in _____" (enter your town or state) and right away got 7 non profit groups that at the minimum will cover 80%, some even 100% for those who qualify. Good Luck

My husband has been suffering with hearing loss in both ears for the past several years. He too lost interest in social activities and watching TV. He "hid" in our home office playing solitaire on his computer until bed time. He had several hearing tests over the last year and his hearing loss became worse. He is 70 yrs. and on Medicare. He had been quoted $4000. + for 2 hearing aids. We have a Costco Membership and our local Costco has a Hearing Center. I inquired as to the cost of their Aids. Costco's price was $1,950 FOR BOTH!!! It has been a God send and he has come "out of" his shell. He now acts like he did when he was 60. Their brand is Kirkland Signature %.0 premium digital hearing aids with remote control so he can control what he hears in different setting (conversation, movie and concert theaters, TV). Costco has other aids too. The audiologist at Costco was very professional and showed genuine care and concern about my husband's hearing loss and made sure the fit was perfect for my husband.

KathyRN, thank you so much for sharing that! Your post illustrates that it pays to search around and not just assume the first place you go to is the only price available.

I've been very pleased with the service and price I got on my glasses at Costco. Checking the options at discount chains is worthwhile.

It was the same for us Jesse Belle. Covered the testing but not the hearing aid.
