Captain, my cobbler recipe called for 2 cups of cherries but the picture looked too cakey to me. I used 4 cups. Perfect! Strong fruit? Bring it on! :)

Glad you are trying breakfast. Hope it becomes a habit.

sautéed some fresh haddock, wax beans from the garden and home fries. The tomato, basil and mozzarella salad. When my sis was here I stopped and picked up a homemade but frozen pecan pie when we went to Door County and baked it. Really good! Thankfully I did a 4.5 mile walk this morning.

cherries are strong jeanne . think plenty of pastry or crumb crust with minimal cherries . i had a half pint of just canned cherries with sugar yesterday morning just to see if breakfast really would perk a person up . it sure did . a coworker of mine keeps telling me i need fruit for energy and vitamins . by dam he just might be right .

I was lucky there were plenty of ribs last night, so when Brother insisted I take home some leftovers I told him to try and stop me! Even better than yesterday, Yum.

Fresh Italian sausage smothered in sautéed onions and sweet red and yellow bell peppers. I always add a little ground fennel to it and sprinkle on some Goya 'Sazonador Total'. Rolls fresh from the bakery at Tops. Fresh sweet corn, locally grown. Santa Rosa Plums for dessert. Pure culinary Heaven.

Brother picked us up and took us to his home for dinner. Ribs that literally melted in your mouth, grilled asparagus and portabellas, Tomato and mozzarella salad with fresh basil from my garden and roasted potatoes. Yum. I saved a little room for Ice Cream.

Vegetarian sandwich - keeping it simple. The casserole sounded so good it made my stomach rumble. I love stacked tortillas, cheese, beans - melted in a casserole-yummy.

I sat down with my 2 tuna sandwich (decided to add olives in it). I couldn't eat it in peace without offering sis. I got up and knocked on her bedroom door. Offered her a sandwich. I was so hoping she would say no. She took one. I ate mine. And my stomach is still hungry. So, I made just a plain salami/bread sandwich. Stomach feels better now.

Just finished dad's pamper for the night. 930pm and haven't eaten dinner. Stomach is hurting. It's a struggle. And I do my best to not be so resentful of sis. The other day, when I arrived home after work, sis told me that she already cooked the meat and ate dinner. I was hoping she also cooked enough to include for me. I checked for any pot, pan on the single burner or food in the micro. Nothing.

Tonight, I have no appetite but my stomach is hurting because it's empty. So, although I'm not hungry, I will have to force myself to eat. After I shower, I'm going to make a sandwich. I was torn between tuna sandwich with lots of onions and black pepper in it. Or salami and egg sandwich. I will decide while I'm showering. The thing is... I feel so obligated to make enough for sis. Yet she rarely thinks of me when she makes her own food. Ha! Tuna sandwich. I just remembered I have an unopened can of pringle chips.

I'm trying to have a guest for dinner once a week or so, to give me an incentive for tidying up! Tonight it was my daughter-in-law who is a vegetarian. We had a stacked tortilla casserole, with a filling of beans, tomatoes, onions, spinach, and cheese between the tortillas. It is an awesome recipe. And then so I could play with my new cherry pitter, we had cherry cobbler for dessert.

We have meatless meals once or twice a week, so cooking for a vegetarian is no problem. (A vegan would be more of a challenge.)

Tomorrow I'm going to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Wacipi (Pow Wow). Fry bread, here I come!

Oooo I played with my new toys tonight!

I bought a cherry pitter. What a fun toy. Friend sent a huge box of cherries from Montana and I made a pretty cherry/kiwi tart for dessert. Even better than it looked, and it looked fine.

I also got a julienne vegetable cutter and turned a big zucchini into fine strips. Those went on our open faced veggie melt sandwiches, along with 2 kinds of cheese, sprouts, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and bell pepper, all on sour dough bread. Awesome.

Doesn't cabbage give a person lots of gas? That alone makes me not serve it more often :D We do like it though, the cabbage of course ;)

I like cabbage, too. And it is good for us. And cheap. I wonder why I don't serve it more often? I'll have to work on that.

I love cabbage in my soup - whether it's chicken or beef soup. Soup not stew. If the cabbage has no taste, just dip it in a soy sauce, lemon juice and onions.

Dinner was delicious! SIL dropped off some baby back ribs from Applebee's. The little salad was a disappointment but the meat was delicious. I ate with my fingers - so that I can chew off as much of the meat from the bone. I had to get up several times to wash my fingers from all that sauce.

Oh my goodness, sallie, I haven't even thought about heavenly hash for ages. Wish you could fax me some!

I was in Rochester Mn most of the day. Had lunch with a man who has early-onset Lewy Body Dementia, and his wife, and we sat and talked for a long time. I'd gone without eating too long and after I took my blood sugar level I gobbled the french fries like there was no tomorrow.

Not too hungry for dinner, so a simple Tuna a Shoestring salad did me just fine. I sure could use some heavenly hash about now, though.

In New York we call that ambrosia and I think it's against the law NOT to have it at every baby or wedding shower.

We had omelets with chopped green pepper and cheddar cheese. Easy Peasy. Can't wait for the home growns!

I made baked ziti with garlic bread. I also made Heavenly hash for dessert. It's chunk pineapple, sliced manderian oranges, sliced maraschino cherries, sour cream and mini marshmallows all mixed together. Oh the pineapples and oranges are canned and have to be drained. It truly is heavenly!
