After almost 3 months with a broken femur and ultimately having a stroke March 13th, my Mom at age 86 passed away yesterday evening. She was in a nursing home and I have related my many struggles with them getting her proper care from LPNs and aides. I spent the last 5 days 24 hours a day at her bedside. After not eating or drinking (she could no longer swallow) for 2 weeks, she finally took her last breath. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do and it was a privilege to be with her at the end. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to everyone on this forum who have lost a loved one. I am heartbroken but know she is finally at peace and has been reunited with my Dad and sister. I have been a member of the AgingCare.com website for several years and you all have helped me know I was not alone in the struggles we all face in caregiving our elderly loved ones. Thank you friends.

((((((Hugs)))))) and my condolences on your loss. I am glad you were able to be with her till the end. She now has a new life and you have to carry on. Look after you now. I know the next while won't be easy but you will heal in time,

I too am sorry for your loss. You were so dedicated during her last days; I'm sure that brought a great deal of comfort to her. Your statement that it was a privilege to be with her during her final days is an admirable reflection of your compassionate attitude.

I am sorry for your loss. All of us on this site know that this is coming (if it hasn't already), but that doesn't make it easy. Take comfort in knowing that you did a great job taking care of her and now take care of yourself.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel and what you went through as I'm sure many of us here are still fighting through. But, rest assured you did all you could to make your Mother's last days the best you could! God Bless you and bring you some rest and comfort now! As you said she is now with Dad and is as peace, pain free and happy! Now, rest and recover and take care of yourself! Love and hugs to you and your family!
