Unlocking the Silent Prison

I found this article to be very helpful as I have been doing this with my mother for years. It has been easier to write things out since my mom has some hearing loss but she can also re-read something in writing. I made her a book (using a binder) about herself with lots of pictures of her children, greats and grands with names attached. Even pictures of the pets. She reads it every morning. In the back of her binder, I included song lyrics which you can find on the Internet. I can hear her singing "I'll be down to get you in a taxi, Honey" when I'm making her breakfast :) This has been a great tool for communication and I wanted to let other in on this information.

A diary for writing and a picture album for memories is good.

Keep the conversation going (or start a new one)
