I'd read that vintage music may be enjoyed by people with dementia and tried background music throughout the day for my wife of 58 years. It did not help, but I managed to get her out of bed and to the dinner table by playing a piano recording of the good old songs by Squeek Steele. Instead of telling my wife, "You've got to get up for dinner," I said, "The pianist is here and I'd like the next waltz with you." Not sure how long this technique will be successful but I'm happy to say it has now worked four days in a row!
