Dottie, it is unlikely the blood thinners will cause internal bleeding, I doubt I am exaggerating when I say that millions of people are using them. It is my understanding that with DVT anticoagulants are used short term until the blockage is dealt with, from then on there may be other options to prevent further clots.
So we had my mom tested and she has a DVT in the upper part of her left leg. So what is best? Do I put her on a blood thinner which may cause internal bleeding or leave it alone a d let her body deal with it? Mom is 89 and transfers from bed to her chair to her wheelchair.
