Sarah Jane how wonderful that your Mom enjoyed helping out and had no problem with doing the hem. Sounds like it really made her day.
Hemming is such a dying art. I remember having to hem just about everything I bought.... that was decades ago. Now I can't even thread a needle :P

It seems you brought joy to your mother by letting her help and using her skill. How lovely! In the future, you may want to take photos and even videos of her helping, so you can show them to her and help her remember.
