These are not strange to me. I nursed my wife back to health after having a stroke. Sadly, I wasn't about to do any thing when she had a cardiac arrest several years later.

My mother recently had what we feel was a stroke. The Hospital ran some tests like a CT scan but it did not show anything conclusive. The Dr called me at home and said that there wasn't anything more that they could do for her, come take her home. When we got there, he said that they "could" do an MRI or MRA for a blood clot but why? They wouldn't operate anyway. Even if they gave her plavicx, they would need an MRA first and he didn't see the need. Mom is 94 and has had small strokes before. I decided to place Mom in a Nursing home. Im wondering if I should have insisted on more testing??? AND now she seems to be failing, she doesn't open her eyes much or be aware of her surroundings. She has been in the Nursing home for 8 days now. The Dr in charge of the Nursing home has suggested Hospice. WOW.... im in shock. First, Im surprised to think that she wont last 6 months.. second, I thought Hospice was for people who were facing death and are very much aware of themselves. How could Hospice benefit my Mom?
