This is a great idea and one whose time has come. The new crop of seniors don't want the typical senior residences and are demanding so much more. The mixing of the generations allows for a unique learning experience. Hope to see this type seniors residence in North America.

Very interesting concept! I do not expect these facilities would advertise free room. Every student that sees an opportunity and savings would be on the doorstep. Instead it sounds as if Judson and other similar programs are quite selective in who they will offer a place to live.

Pretty sure the Older Person exemption to Fair Housing legislation would make this unfeasible, even illegal. The property owner would never be allowed more that 20% of residents to be under 55ish (i cant remember the exact age). However, the property owner can't ever evict anyone to achieve this... so in reality 10% or lower would be needed. They would also never be able to advertise the program.

One day the US will do catch up with these innovative ideas from other countries. I have not heard about this - with the college students living in the retirement. I have learned that in this one country, they're intermingling the adult day care in the midst of an active mall or center. The elderlies can walk out of their care center and immediately meet with regular people shopping, etc... They're finding that this is also good for those with dementia, etc... I'm sorry to be so vague about it. I was just not really paying attention to it.

I'll never get tired of paying for the cost of long term care when you'll read something awesome like this everyday.
