Except that in my experience most parents feel entitled to free care from their children. They are too preoccupied with their own suffering to do anything for their children.

caregivers may consider going to local Senior Services Centers within their county and city government for advice and direction, and possible supportive opportunities. Check to see if Aging True services are available, they may have Social Workers available and may have pathways to community resources. If parent is a Veteran, VA service Center reps may be helpful.

Admittedly, it is overwhelming, no state, county, city, community are the same, and if remote from a metro area, can be even more difficult.

So true! Thank you for pointing out that caregiving has no age limits. It is a tragedy for any youth to have to give up so much of his/her childhood to grow up quickly as a result of caregiving. They need support in order to get their education, to develop bonds that will help them cope with adulthood and to enjoy their youth - at least to some degree. American Association for Caregiving Youth is a great start! All family caregivers need support from their own family, friends and local governments in the way of services that do not discriminate based on age or income.
