I love this article, but I sort of felt like number 6 caused number 3, which could have been avoided by your own number 12. I completely understand where you are coming from, and I don't disagree, but I think it's important to note that everyone handles things differently. Sometimes the caring perspective that comes from *seeing* ourselves as pseudo-parents, as long as we don't *treat* our parents any differently, allows us to keep it all in perspective.
I don't mean any of this as an argument. I just wanted to pipe up, in case others are out there wallowing in self-doubt now.

I work for an Oncologist and we have meetings for caregivers. I am sending this to the office for a hand out. I am also a caregiver now, my Mother is in hospice care in my home and it is a 24/7 opportunity to help her and learn compassion. Thank you for this.
