My husband is terminally ill. When he dies, I will no longer be able to afford living in my present home, not to mention that it is much too large for one person. He refuses to put the house up for sale until this coming spring. I don't want to push the matter because of his illness. I have also heard that after the death of a spouse, one should not make any major decisions for at least a year. Can someone please address this issue? I will have the proceeds of my home and sufficient funds to move to an active adult community in Florida or Arizona.
