you might try some heat treatments like a heating pad, warm bath, or a bed buddy that can be reheated quickly in the microwave. Nothing totally takes it away, but I find the heat does help me.

I've had Dr. diagnosed fibromyalgia for 4 years and it's estimated I probably had it for about 10 years previously. It;s futher complicated by being bi-polar, falling down a flight of stairs injuring my back last year, arthritis in my hips, thyroid cancer last year and having awful side effects from Armour Thyroid. I feel awful 90% of the time, highly stressed and emotional and can't take most drugs prescribed. My husband was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment across several planes and the very beginnings of dementia, leaning towards Alzheimers.

I can't walk much more than 1/4 mile, but I try to get both of us out daily for a walk. Never the same place two days in a row, but setting up the habit that if it's a brach walk it's Tuesday, if it's to the docks it's Wed, Thurs is along the bay and so forth. Getting out daily is very beneficial for both of us, but most days I have to push past the pain and my docs seem to pass on my pain problems off to one another. On good days, which I take full advtage of for both of us, my husband rubs my back and feet which dometimes it feels like foreve. God bless him! It makes it much easier to deal with him when he asks the same questions all day long or obssess on a singulsr thought.

I'm having hip pain also and I think that it may have to do with one leg being shorter. A problem in your lower back could cause it also, but it sounds like sciatic nerve pain. There are homeopathic remedies like Hyland's Sciatic that you could try, but you may need to get an Xray. My doctor told me that if you can bend your knees there is nothing wrong (I'm finding a new doctor!)

I have suffered with Dr. diagnosed fibromyalgia for about 10 years now. I didn't know what it was at first, I just called it my "traveling arthritis". When I started hearing more about this condition, and learned about the symptoms I said "This is Me!" It really hit hard after my body experienced the trauma of 2 life-threatening surgeries in the span of a week and then another in less than a year. I was using a walker and a scooter to get around. I was in a sort of remission for about 2 years and now that I am helping with my mother (alz.), it has come back with a vengence. I'm not to the point of useing a walker again, and I hope it doesn't get to that point again. I swim for an hour each day, and this helps a lot. I have always known about the stress factor, because this is true for me. Like the article says you have to take care of yourself, or you can't really take care of anyone else.

I think caregivers are prone to become ill because of lack of sleep, stress, and frequent exposure to the illnesses other people have. I also think there isn't a limit as to what we can get in regards to illnesses. I ended up with several severe illnesses about two months after my father died and finally woke up to the fact that I am of minimal use to my mother if I do not take care of myself. It so hard to put ourselves first when we are looking after others but I have finally started to believe my doctor that we have to do so to be of use to others. I hope you feel better with each day. I have lived with a doctor diagnosed fibromyalgia for over ten years now. My hubby problems began about 5 years ago. He was always so aware of my pain issues. But now as he progesses with the Lewy Body Deminia things are always changing. Today was a wonderful day I was able to work in the flower gardens for 3 hours. That is a miracle for me. Hubby had his caregiver with him for 4 hours today. Thanks to the NEMSCA program we have a CG two days a week. I can get to do shopping or even sleep if my pain is too bad. I never though of my fibromyalgia and beging a care giver being connected or even effecting my fibromyalgia until this article. Thanks
