I found this item in the newsletter totally misleading. Please offer an article on Green Funerals as well. After years in end of life and palliative care, and personal family experience, I have come to see the Funeral industry as unsavory. I suggest the movie "The Family Undertaking" which has been shown in my community in the past. When you see what is done to the bodies, it will change your mind. There is nothing dignified about the funeral process. You do not need everything on this list and no funeral should be more than a couple thousand dollars and can be as low as $200. for a home burial. When my father was dying he wanted an oak casket, no metal liner, no embalming and the funeral director was furious, as those caskets were kept in another room away from the expensive ones and he tried to tell us that embalming was mandated. It is NOT. What is the point of preserving the body??? We are way past the black plague. Are you planning on digging them back up for the next Christmas event or a vacation with Bernie? I find this list inappropriate for this newsletter. It is simply a sales tactic for STUFF, including pre-payments, all totally unnecessary. It costs next to nothing to put someone in a biodegradable box. And for those who choose not to be cremated, those cemeteries called perpetual grave sites are appalling...fake flowers, a little plaque in the ground. If you are going to bury someone, spend money on a gorgeous tombstone instead of paying to have their insides brutally liquidized and shot up with chemicals and cotton...and add a bench where family can sit and visit. This is just another way of making money. Want to know more? Watch the Family Undertaking on Netflix and here is just one site you can learn about state laws. Only 6 states require the presence of a funeral director! https://www.evrmemories.com/can-you-bury-your-loved-one-at-home-is-it-legal/

Even though my wife and I have been through funeral planning three times, it doesn’t get any easier.
One of the most loving things you can do for your loved ones is to plan your funeral. Make multiple copies of the plan for the funeral home, church, your children, and a special drawer at home. The concept of a special drawer can hold all pertinent information, like wills, insurance policies, a list of accounts, a list of creditors, etc. This drawer can eliminate a lot of headaches. Put the original documents in the lock box and copies in the special drawer. The drawer is a good place for your lock box keys.
Pay for your funeral, grave plot, and head stone early on.
Everything you can do will make one of the most difficult times of your loved ones lives a little easier.

Can pre-arranged funerals be paid in installments or does it have to be paid all at once. I live in the state of Mississippi.

I never thought that there was so much that went into planning a funeral. Luckily a lot of this can be handled with a funeral home that you choose. There is also a lot of pre-arrangements that don't take a lot of time at all like finding the right location for the funeral. I know my family has a location where we all want to be so that we don't have to figure out where they wanted to be buried.

This list was very helpful because planning a funeral can be so overwhelming. Not only do you have to deal with the grief of losing a loved one, you have to plan a funeral as well. It is a very personal thing. The fact of the matter is, you can make these plans ahead of time. Anything that you can do in advance will help you a lot when planning a perfect funeral.
