At what age is a person considered a senior? And who do I need to contact to start receiving Medicaid benefits along with my Medicare benefits?

I’m 59 years old and I receive social security disability (Medicare). I was told that I could receive Medicaid also. It that true?

The answer is "yes"
Seniors can get both Medicare and Medicaid when they are low income and/or disabled.
Normally, your Medicare benefit would cover your 80/20 and Medicaid will come in and cover the rest.

Thank you!

My friend is 28 and disabled. He has SSD because he worked enough to receive benefits. They are switching him to QMB and a spenddown. His medications are over his income (even with the part D plans I have found). Is there a way for him to keep his Free Medicaid?

I am 72 on Medicare and receive $832.00 mo SS. My part time employment only pays $8.00 hr (a little over 2000.00 yr) I was just told I need $19,000.00 in dental work! It might as well be a million. Will medicaid cover any dental work?

Shawna48, My wife has end stage renal. Am being told now because of obamacare you will qualify for medicaid if you are getting social security disability. ESR is a tough battle, and I hope you go for transplant as soon as possible. Its tough watching the deteriating process. Its a long wait for transplant, and the average person on dialysis only lives 7 yrs . The dialysis fluid alone causes so many other problems with your body. Then throw in all the meds the docs prescribe to her...its terrible. Wish you luck.

Shawna48, it depends on the amount of income. If you have Medicare, and have a low income, you may qualify for Medicaid QMB. This ONLY pays for your Medicare premium.

I am 73 and still working. I pay part of my own medical insurance premiums and simply fume when after paying premiums, I still have a huge deductible and co-pays. In the meantime, able-bodied people on welfare get full, free medical services, no deductible and a fifty cent co-pay. How do I after I am forced to quit work due to inability to do so, qualify for medicaid to help with medicare? Doe anyonme know why the American worker/taxpayer is so misused?
