Stop telling people they can't catch the flu twice thats a lie. I am 33 years old and caught the flu b virus in begging of January. I tested positive for flu b....Being a healthy adult and vitamin taking man I have a pretty strong immune system. I was put on Tamiflu while I had the beggining of the flu and after a month and a half I finally got rid of the flu. Then three weeks later I get deathly sick again and was tested for flu a negative, coronavirus negative, flu b positive. Telling people they can't catch this twice is a lie. I would be more then willing to share medical records. It took me 2 extra months to Shake the second case. After a month and a half I was negative for flu b but my lungs were still hurting so thats why they tested me for b again to see if it passed. Then a few weeks later I test positive for b again. Alot of money down the drain but shows flu b can be caught twice. I also was just tested for antibodies from covid when the test first came around and was negative. I had no remaining flu b in my body as a relapse. So only logic is i passed it to my kid or had the virus in the house then I re got it. You can't have a positive then negative then positive and say it wasn't catching flu b twice.

Forgot to add you don't have to get a flu shot as people with allergies don't either. Its called taking tamiflu as a regimen during the peak season. They actually perceive it like that for alot of people which I will be getting to prevent the flu. Everything I got the shot it was miserable sick to wear i couldn't breathe and panic attacks led to hospital. I hate you flu i hope you get eradicated.

Also forgot to add that tamiflu did make me act weird like out of nowhere weird to were I didn't know what was going on around me but the nurses said it could have been the flu making me unresponsive. So, before taking or poking anything, make sure to read all information.

Teen girl had the flu vaccine a few years ago and ended up dying from it. The flu vaccine doesn't protect you from the flu. You can still end up dying from it.

Here's another myth: the vaccine will keep you from getting sick. I used to get the vaccine and I would get seriously ill with flu-like symptoms up to 3 times every season. I finally stopped getting it. I rarely get sick since I stopped getting the vaccine.

Uh..? "Flu vaccines are loaded with mercury"...????

No they aren't. Goodness me!

I've been quietly amused that here in the UK our major high street pharmacists are running out of vaccine stocks. Correction: not amused, not at all, because the reason for the sudden surge in uptake is publicity given to the tragic death of a beautiful, gifted young woman last week. Beautiful gifted but alas unvaccinated young woman who probably didn't think the benefits of a flu jab were worth the side effects. Even if she got as far as thinking at all, and didn't just bin her university's appointment letter without reading it, in common with most students.

And, more bafflingly, in common with many healthcare professionals: not a majority, but a very sizeable minority are reported to have admitted skipping it. Who... couldn't be bothered; didn't have time; always feel a bit rubbish for a couple of days after vaccination and decided to risk it..? Their vaccines are free of charge, they can get an appointment at any time at all, they are exposed daily to infection and they are urged to get vaccinated. God knows what they're thinking.

This issue goes in cycles. There are several quiet years when strains aren't especially virulent or unpleasant, or there's been a Goldilocks vaccine and robust herd immunity, and the thousands of deaths go unreported because they're normal and don't include anyone you wouldn't expect. Then the next year there's a right b*st*rd of a strain which makes sufferers feel unforgettably atrocious, and kills healthy adults, and everyone is suddenly both more conscientious and a lot less worried about big pharma conspiracies. For the next year or two, anyway.

It's up to you. Get a jab or don't get a jab, as you please. But don't complain about the consequences or blame other people for not solving an insoluble problem.

Thank you for sharing the information within this article. I’m a nurse who works in the ER. It seems this season is one of the worst yet for influenza. All of the staff continuously wear masks into every patient room due to the prevelance of the flu.

Unflorunately, the infuenza A and B virus are spread through the air, as the article says, and can remain alive on hard surfaces for around 24 hours if not disinfected. So if anyone were to go to the store and hold on to the credit card checkout that someone with influenza had just held and potentially infected, that new person could now pick up the virus.

The influenza virus mutates incredibly fast. Whatever your outlook on vaccinations, I would think any one of us reading the article would agree it’s a terrible virus that wished could be better prevented. The young and the elderly and those with comorbidities can suffer so from developing the influenza.

I would just encourage everyone to please continue washing their hands often, thank you!

The flu shot isn't a miracle flu preventative like freqflyer posts. In our household of 5, all 5 got the flu shot, and all 5 ended up with the flu a couple months later.

Yes it is helpful in hopefully preventing people from getting the flu, but remember, it's a crap shoot when it comes to the flu vaccine, they pick a few strains they -think- will be prevalent that year, but they -can- chose wrong.

Freqflyer prancing about on a high horse saying preaching "get it or your a bad person because getting will keep you from getting the flu!" Muddied the waters.

The flu shot will help you against the strains they put the vaccine together for, if you end up with one they didn't pick, you indeed can get the flu.

From everything I'm hearing, they "chose" very badly this year when putting together this year's flu shot.

There is no proof that vaccines are perfectly safe. Vaccines are highly profitable for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. These companies have a huge incentive to not let us know of the negative consequences and to deny that any such consequences even exist. Remember the 1950's, when cigarette companies were doing the same thing?

Vaccines for the flu create a temporary increase in antibodies against particular strains. They don't protect against all strains. They won't protect against new strains.

While it's true that vaccines against the flu won't give the flu, vaccines do tax the immune system, making it harder to fight off unrelated viruses. That's why many will get vaccinated and then get sick with a completely unrelated cold virus within a few days.

Get your loved ones tested for nutrient deficiencies. Getting enough vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc is important this time of year. Echinacea tea can help reduce symptoms of a cold or flu.

Xmas 2016. Major flu event. Started with on-coming tiny rasp in throat - tiny cough. Next increased head ache and my teeth started to hurt. Brushing with Hydrogen Peroxide eased the tooth pain. Head aches very severe,. Interesting side effect was severe pain at the point of my screw insertions for my ACL surgery - it subsided after FLU recovery. It was horrific, Taking 10 gms of MSM helped pass the FLU quicker. Assisted drainage with drops of H2O2 to nose. Fluids - Lots. GINGER Juice LIME HONEY for cough. Sleep aided by 5mg of Oxy/325ACTMNFN ( 1 per night). Suppresses cough. Good Luck - painful flu. Night have been TypeB. I am no doctor. But I know how to fight.

my grandchildren got sick, the one was told had the flu so they (the doctor) told them to take Tamiflu. My daughter said one dose on the youngest gave the child jaw tremors all day and the other child got really sick/the runs. she quit giving after checking out all the "bad side effects" . She said it was better to let the kids system fight off on their own. she gave stuff for the fever if too high. I also hate to take stuff and find that all these chemical drugs are not good for our bodies. Yes, I am sure that some people must take it, but for someone to tell you that YOU must take or lose your job is ridiculous. what happens IF you are allergic to something in that vaccine.......not your fault. Anyhow, better if get plenty of rest, drink fluids, washing hands and keeping dirty fingers out of mouth, eyes/nose.

This season's [2014-2015] flu is now already in widespread proportions, and it is so sad whenever I see on the news about people who have died this season from complications from the flu, even young children.

On average 35,000 die from the flu here in the States. Last week a healthy 17 year old girl came down with the flu, she died a week later. Please do what you can not to get the flu. The virus can live on a door knob from 2 to 8 hours. Just think of everything you touch when you are out in public.

I do volunteer work at a local regional hospital, and this is the first time I had seen our ER sealed off, reason being there have been so many flu cases that patients are being treated on recliner beds in the hallways. For every flu case in the hospital ER, it's taking up a bed for heart attack victims, car accidents, elderly falls, children injuries, etc. A flu shot would have avoided this issue... [sigh]. Imagine going to the ER to only be turned away because they are overcrowded.

I've been getting the flu shot yearly since the mid 1970's. My parents, who are now 93 and 97, flu shots annually for the past 30 years. My parent were also volunteers at the same hospital until 6 years ago when age decline caught up with them. None of us ever got sick from the flu shot, nor have we ever had the flu.

You can have the flu virus and not know it, get your flu shot the next day, get sick and blame it on the shot..... you can be a virus carrier and it would take a couple days later before you would first start getting any symptoms. Any other side effects from the flu shot are due to the person not liking getting shots, thus headaches, muscle aches, and upset stomachs.

Flu vaccines are loaded with mercury, and all vaccines prior to early 2000s where done with live cultures, so yes they could give you the virus.

It's the "lack of Vitamin D" season. Make sure your loved ones get enough Vitamin D to successfully get through the season with their health intact. There are some amazing products to also keep on hand, like Esberitox. I would never be without that amazing little chewable tablet. Side effect? You may begin feeling better right away.
Please keep needles far, far away from me. And from those I love. Have a healthy, safe, and low-cost winter! (Good health makes sense, it just doesn't make dollars)

Here's another one: Flue vaccines successfully anticipate the coming seasons' major vaccines. They don't.
And another: Flue vaccine is the only preventative. It's not. Nor are anti-viral medications the only recourse against them. There are a few naturopathic and homeopathic remedies and preventatives which are effective. My own preferred preventative is anticipatory use of Influenza Multi-strain from Kingbio.

I got my mother a standard flu shot and a day or so later she had diarrhea. Nothing in her diet had changed. Looks like cause and effect to me.
