What a lousy article for those who do not qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford $5,000 to $7,000 per month for Memory Care. What did those people do? There are no answers. Nobody, not the Office on Aging in the County, not the Senators, not the Representatives, not the Alzheimer's Association, Nobody knows the answer.

This is a very serious issue and needs to be listened to and some action taken. I will admit, until we suffered a life altering experience, I had heard of the terrible things that happen in nursing homes, but really didn’t believe it. Well... I’m no longer and outsider looking in, I’m right inside and appalled is not the only word I can use. If someone with some clout can please help me to help my young adult daughter who is now in a so called “skilled nursing facility” that has no business being open; please contact me and let me know where to begin. I’ll do all the leg work, I just need the proper channels to get what’s going on actually heard, and get action taken to prevent this from happening to my daughter and others. It’s not fair, and should be outlawed. Message me.
I look forward to any and all replies that will shed some light on this. I’m pretty motivated and have a strong back bone, I just need to know where to start to stop this type of abuse, neglect, and hopefully help my daughter and others never have to experience this type of treatment and behaviors to continue. Thanks again!

I really need some help. I cared for my daughter at home, who has a acquired severe, diffuse, axonal, traumatic brain injury, who had 6mm shifting, along with short term memory loss, for approximately 18 months prior to all the money ran out to keep her at home. The waiver programs did not work in my state of GA, hence in loss my child to a skilled nursing facility who has no business being open. I’m not medical at all, and I could run circles around their staff. Not to mention, she was placed over 3 hrs away from me. I want her back home where she belongs, but until I can get sufficient help so that I can work to support us, I can’t get her home. She’s confused, and I can’t begin to tell y’all what has happened to her or what hasn’t happened to my daughter since she was admitted to this facility. If any

I have a lot of the same problems with my 87 year old mom. She tells her doctor that she's all up for the assisted living and as soon as we leave his office she says she isnt's going to one. She burs up pots and is not suppose to use the stove..we tried my sister and me taking turns staying in the say and we were "hoverind", we tried having someone come in and and that didn't work. We looked in to senior living. I know medicare is income based, so if your mom has any assets they will take that in to consideration. Medicare doesn't cover this as far as I know..maybe 3 months with a Dr.'s order. I am still checking too and we live in a small town..my last suggestion is to check with the United Way.
