Wow. what a moment with your dad pinning his Purple Heart on you. what a sweet memory and I hope it is a sweet memory for you.
tomorrow I will take mom over to her new home. Hopefully it will be temporary while I run around and handle our business.

For the first time in 5.5 years I will not tuck my mom into bed and not fix her breakfast the next day and I know that if I didn't already have a full agenda I would be sitting here wondering what next.

We have to start with what you like, tennessee. For me it's boats so what's yours? What gives you a thrill and if you have no answer yet,, just give it a minute.

I understand what you mean about doing all of that work and not one person asked after you and your health. I experienced the exact same thing and did not find it amusing at all.

Be patient with yourself and we'll help you get up and at ;em. If I wind up with a boat that doesn't have a deep draft I will be able to take it down the Big Muddy and I will pick you up and we will have some fun!

What did you used to like to do before your world became one of caregiving?

Tennessee, i forgot to mention: the boat is real!!
I just haven't bought it yet. Mom and I have always wanted a boat and it's a race for me to make it happen so she can enjoy it with me.
Incidentally, I love my mom very much and she has always come first in all of my decision making and in all of my actions. She has a wicked sense of humor and has laughed hard at some of the predicaments we have gotten ourselves into. Last night I was helping her in the bathroom and after I always say, ok let's wash our hands. Mom says why should I wash my hands? I'm not the one who just got peed on! We were laughing our butts off.

You have my respect taking care of your family. It is harder for you I am sure because you have 2 and one is the love of your life and the other is the love of your life. You know what I mean. Bless your heart and stop and dream with us for a minute to break up the pain in your day.

Thank you.
I've gotten some pretty nasty remarks about how I feel, but that doesn't chage my feelings.
My Mom is 94 with late dememtia and sometimes things that she does shocks me, but I won't put it out there to entertain.
It"s a long hard road and I sincerly wish you well with yours.

My mom had 6 miscarriages I was her MIRACLE child born on my mom and dad's 6th Anniversary. I'm not sure why they adopted but I guess my mom put in my head that I needed a sibbling because being an only child was lonely. I guess it was really my mom who felt that another child would complete our family. I was 9 when we adopted my sister. She was 14 months old. She looks nothing like any of us and was the first child that my mom and dad saw. They say they felt sorry for her. Whatever. We have never been close.

Thanks so much for your input! Caring for Mom has been an unbelievable task......didn't think she would ever be this dependent upon me. This is the first time I have ever dealt with depression meaning me!
