About me

I am a married mother of a 10 year old, who works full time and primary care taker of my mother who I moved closer to me about 8 years ago. She lives about 1 mile from my home. She had 3 TIA's close together 2008. Left her unable to drive, take care of most of her own ADL's. I work, come home for about 10 minutes, go to her house and stay approx. 2 - 3 hours per nite. I get home in time to make sure everyone has eaten, taken baths, and ready for bed....... I stay very, very tired... I'm not wanting to put my mom in a long term facility, but dont' know what else to do. I need more help. I'm also an only child.....

I am still looking for an appropriate place for my mother. On a more cheerful note, she IS doing better as far as her ambulation goes, but her cognition and short term memory is worsening. Her stamina is better. (yay!) I have been shut down on every avenue I go down for assistance for her. Financial as well as everything else. I can't get but one day per week for assistance from the state to do some light housework. NO ONE to help prepare meals, so I am still paying out of pocket for someone to come at B'fast and lunch for about an hour for this as well as some company. Thanks so much for your hugs. They are needed more than you know. LOVE YOU ALL!

Hey... Thank you for all the nice compliments, I will tell you that I am going to do a little digging for you to see what I can come up with. I am VERY VERY good at finding "stuff"
Need to know a couple things. Is she under hospice care ? if not can she get onto it? Also, there may be some hidden provision in the Medicare code that allows a stay in the hospital, even if it is deemed Psychological( re Suicidal). Is she on Medicare or Medicaid ?
Im sure I can come up with something. well, almost sure.

I am an only child as well. I'm it. I hope it helps to know that you are not alone. I know in some sort of wierd way it just helps to talk to someon about it that can truly understand and not pass judgements, maybe just a simple "hows it goin". so..
HOW's it Goin ?
