bobbie, I am in SoCal as well, may I ask what city you found the nice nursing home, perhaps they have a sister one around me. I am looking for back up resources in case I have to move my mom to one, her eyesight is failing more and more and may turn blind, and then she cannot be home alone at all. And it turns out the homes are cheaper than full time home care.

Hi, Bobbie, I'm not sure but from what I've read of your recent posts, it sounds like you have found a new home for your Mom. It sounds great! And wonderful that you and your husband can get out and enjoy dinner together and know that your Mom is well taken care of. Needless to say, you've earned it!! (-: Enjoy.....

My folks have passed away,I'm not in active duty anymore, after so many years on the front line of caregiving.I am still in shell shock,I've been such a recluse for so long,I'm havin a hard time figuring out where to go from here.I find validation in nomatter the circumstance,It seems to fall on one.In the 10 years that I took care of sick folks,I never had anyone ask how I was doing. It was always how is your dad or Jeff. It didn't matter how sick or whatever I was,Ihad to be there. Now I have legal troubles brought on by my brothers.I read ya'lls posts and many long for freedom and I HAVE IT NOW, BUT i'm not sure what to do with it.I guess it is like letting your dog off of the chain and him not knowing what to do or where to go.My dad sure had a lot of repect for caregivers and nurses and such. He pinned me with his purple heart from WW2,TOLD ME i deserved that purple heart as much as he did with WHAT i went through. Some jobs you can't put a price on and taking care of another person in that shape is one of them. This is weird, but I am so thankful for being able to use the bathroom like a normal person.I think GOD everytrip to the toliet I make.Praying on the toliet-man thats weird.Jeff had bladder cancer in his 30's progressed into brain cancer.Yes, using the bathroom like a normal person is a blessing now I use to take for granted. So you are really looking for a name for a boat,I so hope those dreams become a reality for you and your mom,so you can have those memories.I Iike to yell LAND HO. If you are going to have a pirate on the boat can we get Jack SPARROW.
