We want to move our mother into elderly housing, which is expensive, and we need to sell her house. Is there a time limit for this?
Carol Bradley Bursack, Mar 19, 2010
Over the span of two decades author, columnist and speaker Carol Bradley Bursack cared for a neighbor and six elderly family members. Because of this experience, Bradley Bursack created a portable support group, the book “Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories.” Her sites, www.mindingourelders.com and www.mindingoureldersblogs
You'll need to pay the monthly payments, so the time limit would be how long can she pay without money from the house? The type of housing she moved to will make a difference. If it is government subsidized, they will likely place a lean on the house if she runs out of money before it's sold. You'll have to check with them about the procedure. You also may want to see an elder attorney or estate attorney. Carol
