Father had open heart surgery 10 weeks ago, suffers from Sundowners Syndrome, and now talks in his sleep with wild nightmares. Why could this be happening?

My father is 79 and had open heart surgery 10 weeks ago, but he is healing well. all vitals stable...but talks in his sleep with wild nightm
