Over the span of two decades author, columnist and speaker Carol Bradley Bursack cared for a neighbor and six elderly family members. Because of this experience, Bradley Bursack created a portable support group, the book “Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories.” Her sites, www.mindingourelders.com and www.mindingoureldersblogs

It's hard to get insurance when you aren't healthy. Many of us have been there. I'd suggest you find an insurance agent in your community who is an independent, meaning he represents many companies. He may be able to search through the companies and find a policy that works for you.

The other option is that if you are old enough to belong to AARP, they have life insurance (group rates if you belong to the organization). You can get a modest policy without a physical. The price is based on your age.

Good luck with this.
