Good luck. This is an often asked question, for very good reason. We deserve to be able to give the quality care we can, but if we can't put food on the table, how do we do it? The system needs to change. But that doesn't help you now. Good luck,Carol

The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is where I would start. (this doesn't allow you to quit your job, but it allows leave in certain circumstances)Check out:http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/See also:http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/forms/WH-380-F.pdfAdditionally, State law may provide more protection in some cases. Search your state's department of labor website for more information.Good luck!

FMLA will help protect your job but there's no money to help. I was told to check with medicaid but my mother doesn't qualify.Sad as it is our country, as wonderful as it is, will pay strangers to care for our loved ones but family members are a no. What is really sad is my mother lives with me for about a third of what a "skilled facility" costs. My mother takes care of my bills so I don't have to worry that my job is gone. Will your mother be able to help you? Good luck to you
