Carol Bradley Bursack, Sep 18, 2009

Over the span of two decades author, columnist and speaker Carol Bradley Bursack cared for a neighbor and six elderly family members. Because of this experience, Bradley Bursack created a portable support group, the book "Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories."

When she gets to about six months, I'd suggest talking to social services about getting her on Medicaid. It will depend on where she lives now as to whether they will keep her there, but you'll have little choice by then. They will tell you how she can finish "spending down" to qualify for Medicaid. There's a lot of paperwork, but it's doable.

I agree with Carol, check into Medicaid. Hope it all works out.
