My dad takes aricept and he drinks at least 3 very strong bourbon and pepsi per day. He has gained a huge amount of weight and takes many naps per day. Is this part of the aricept and alcohol? I am really worried because he seems to feel that he cannot make it on his own. His wife just treats him horribly. This never would have happened one year ago because he would not have tolerated it.

I'd call a pharmacist/pharamacy and ask them about aricept/alcohol interaction. Also, I recommend you get him to a doctor and explain what you have here and see if there's help for him. Sorry about the wife, but don't let her derail your efforts to help your father.
