Didn't know that Medicare could "run out." Could you please explain. Also, if your mother is no longer eligible for Medicare and has spent down her assets, she should qualify for Medicaid. Is that what you mean by "paying out of pocket."I would get some advice from a good elder care attorneygood luck

No... she hasn't paid down her assets yet to qualify for Medicaid. Medicare can run out in periods. She was placed in the hospital again 2 days prior to her being eligible for another period of payment.
