I am with you too Pamela148...if it is to be it is up to me but. my husband is a great help. I have 3 grown kids that could help, but they live too far away. At least we do not have sibblings to argue on how to take care of Mom:) Stuck

Sure, I'm an only child...if you don't count three deadbeat sisters. Might as well be an only child...

I am an only child. My wife is such a great help that my parents think of her as a true daughter.

Might as well be-only have an older brother who drops off the face of the earth whenever something bad happens to mommy or daddy. Otherwise, he only calls when he wants money. Oh, sorry, did that sound bitter?!?

Wow, we have a lot of people here who are an only child. It has its advantages and disadvantages. I have some step siblings who came along my life's journey well into my teen years. My experience with them so far has been a mixed bag. I do feel a bit isolated around my step-dad as he is existing in more disbelief about everything. Speaking of everything, I will admit that I am a bit afraid of his drunken rage when he learns what my mother put in her will and I'm already anticipating my step-brother will probably try his best to get me to agree to use some of my mother's money to take care of his dad who is qualified to go to a veteran's retirement place. My mother's will plainly states that she is leaving everything she owns, inherited, bought or was given to me as well as setting me up with the right of survivor-ship to her private banking account and securities as well as made me the trustee of the four farmlands that she inherited from her mother which originally were a land grant from the King of England. At the current rate of his drinking, he just might die before my mother does. My mother and step-dad were never all that close which is very evident in the way she wrote her will.
