I'm concerned that my mother in law is not eating enough. She lives with us and we monitor her food intake, but don't know if its enough?

Give a Hug

Seniors who become less active need less food. Your main focus should be nutrition: protein, fruit, vegetables, grains, etc. but, perhaps in smaller portions. Also, I get concerned that my Mom does not get enough fluids, so I have her fill a small pitcher with water and make sure she drinks most of it.
What has made you concerned about her food intake? Has there been substantail weight loss? Is there a loss in appetite? Could depression keep her from eating?
There are so many reasons a person will stop eating. But if your mil is eating enough to keep her overall health and energy up there should not be a concern. Maybe keep a list of foods she likes and keep them available.
good luck
