Does the idea of drop-in hourly respite care in a caregiver's private home sound interesting? What would you consider a fair payment for it?

Give a Hug

honestly, it doesnt.. alot of elderly people with health issues would tend to get very upset if they arent in familiar surroundings.. not only that, but some with health issues like incontinence, theyd have to pack a suitcase for a 2 week vacation for an overnight stay.. too much trouble..

That is a good point. I guess it wouldn't be appropriate for a lot of people. I was thinking about people like my neighbor who are a bit more physically healthy but cognitively disabled enough to be unable to stay home alone for any length of time, whose family isn't ready to move them to a facility yet. My thought was that it would become a familiar environment, that they could enjoy like they enjoy a favorite shop or restaurant. My grandma had grown used to her day place even though she had a lot of memory issues. It would be more for people who need a sitter for a parent while they go to an appointment, rather than an overnight type of care. It would be an alternative to a typical adult day care, like an hourly drop-in child sitter is an alternative to regular day care. But if it was someone bedridden or needing depends changed, I'm not sure I could provide the care they needed. Thank you for taking the time to respond, because I truly appreciate your input.
