Financial advice?

My mom does not qualify for VA, and in between Assisted Living and Nursing home. I was hoping to find some supplemental assistance for funding an Assisted Living that she / we could afford. The only one we can afford right now is one that she would have to share a bathroom and bathing facility. ?? Any suggestion would help.

What state do you live in? Check to see if you have an office for The Stavros Foundation near you. I'm in Mass and there is one locally. Mom is not eligible for MassHealth insurance so can not be considered by the foundation. Maybe they can help your mom.

I checked....... so such luck. Acutally, there's not a lot around here in Alabama. It's either Medicaid, Medicare, VA (doesn't quailfy), home health (has), or nothing. No one seems to want to help. I did finally get in touch with her home health agency and told them I cannot help her as much as she needs, so if there were anything else they could do....... haven't heard from them yet. It's only been 2 days. Said they were checking. Hmmm..

Keep on plugging! It takes time to find help. One call leads to another, so don't get frustrated. You will eventually make a connection to someone who can help. I've been at this for nearly 4 years, and still keep making phone calls looking for any help I can get. Hang in there!
