Used to live in NY and travel to PA monthly to visit and take of everyone's needs, but in August of 2008 my husband had a chance for a promotion that would relocate us closer (OH)to the relatives so he took it. I had to leave my job in New York, and miss it and my friends terribly, but it is much easier to care for everyone now. I only have to travel 100 miles versus 275 and make a trip to PA weekly. In an emergency, I know that I can be there in 90 minutes. That's much better than 4 1/2 hours.
Paying bills, making medical appts, handling meds ordering and maintaining records can consume my day. Dealing with all the emotional needs as well as physical can be overwhelming. At least now when I take a vacation, it's a real vacation and not just a trip back to the relatives.
I have had all kinds of issues - both facility and care needs. Would love the chance to get tips to make life easier for me and better for my loved ones.
