As I said, my mother said things that were hurtful also, but at the end of her life, she tried to "atone" to me in her own way.....for example, during the last weeks of her life, as she was on hospice, she thanked me for having gotten her and Dad to move into assisted living. And for the first time that I can remember, she said "i love you" to me in a serious, sincere way-----long overdue but so welcome nevertheless. I'll bet that deep down your mother loves you to pieces, but has gotten off track with you and now doesn't know how to get back on the right track with you. I'll be hoping for the best for you...
