They have been there/done that and have so much wisdom to share. They have saved my life. I found this site when I was in despair, and had nowhere to turn for advice from those who have been there. Hoping you find the comfort here too. Anyway, I just noticed in your info. that your Mom remembers certain things like pres. etc. My father has had dementia for a couple of years now. He too fooled the doctor, who never saw him everyday, or spoke to him everyday. He knew who the pres. was, his social sec.#, his address, all his personal info., could even still pay his bills. Watching tv everyday, yes, they are going to know who the current pres. is. There are more detailed cognitive tests available. My dad was able to hide his problem for years, and still can when talking to people who don't know him. He can be a very good actor when he feels threatened. But his symptoms were just like your mom's. Hope this helps a little, I still keep asking myself, just yesterday, is it really dementia/alzheimer's? Because yesterday, he remembered so many things I was floored. Then a few hours after that, can't even tell what time of day it is, and wants to go to bed at 6:00pm, when the sun is still out. I sometimes think I'm going crazy. Anyway, wishing you luck and prayers. Come back to post, always good to hear other people's stories, and we can learn a lot from you. Nauseated
