It's no bother at all. Your marriage will definitely continue to unravel if you don't have a heart-to-heart, woman-to-woman conversation with Marion. I understand she's 84, but her living with you for 8 years has taken a toll on your husband. Plus -- besides polio -- I really don't see much wrong with her except old age. It seems you have 5 options: (1) keep your mother and lose your husband, (2) ask family members for assistance, (3) have her placed in assisted living, (4) sit down with Marion and your husband and find a way to coexist, and (5) get them both out of the house and be miserable by yourself.
Your husband's rejection stems from watching you not mustering the courage to make a tough decision that you're going to have to live with for the rest of your life. You and him are still the same people, but your lives destabilized when Marion moved in. Right now he's getting half of the woman he married, and even that half is having to be shared with someone else. Do you think that's fair?
