We have 2 grown children and grandkids. He became ill approx 5 yrs ago, started with uncontrolled diabetes, then tremors, then agent orange poisoning, then the early stages of ALZ. In the last year he has had an eye removed because of diabetic retinaophy, he has since become completely blind in the remaining eye. The tremors are be treated with Parkinson's drugs, He has advanced neuropathy in feet and hands, and was put on namendia 3 months ago to try to help with the progression of the alz.
Hospitalized 2 times in the last 3 months, once for pancrititis and once for hallucinations that stay was 13 days. We have Home Health, someone everyday checking on him, medical, and PT. Live ina little town, and since we drove for 25 yrs really dont have friends because we were on the road. Our daughter helps as she can, but attends college 4 days a week and has a 1 yr old. Our son, who used to be my rock, seems afraid to even come to the house.
OK I'm rambling and not getting to anything, I'm scared, overwhelmed, my house is falling down around my ears, I cant keep up with his needs and even manage to pick up the house, I'm embarassed when the nurses come the house is so cluttered. I dont sleep anymore, If I'm lucky I might get tired mentally everyother night for a few hours. I dont want to take anything that will make me sleep for fear of not hearing him if he needs something. He fell one night when I was still sleeping regularly and I didnt hear him, he sliced his side open and laid on the kitchen floor for over an hour bleeding.
If it was just 1 medical issue, but combine the blindness with everything else and it is almost like having a 6 mo old to care for with a 65 years old attitude.
I'm open to any suggestions anyone has, I am just so tired.
